8TB is the largest capacity current PS5 firmware supports, and it is for the player who never wants to think about storage again. Few drives reach this size in the Gen4 M.2 form factor with a low-profile heatsink, so the field is small and prices run high; checking price per terabyte tells you whether the convenience premium is reasonable. Every drive listed meets the Sony spec, is a PS5-compatible M.2 NVMe Gen4 SSD, and is ranked by live price per terabyte on Amazon.ca.
Yes, current firmware supports up to 8TB. The drive must be an M.2 NVMe Gen4 SSD with a heatsink that keeps total height under 11.25 mm.
Is an 8TB PS5 SSD worth it?
Only if you keep an enormous library installed. The price per terabyte is usually higher than 2TB or 4TB, so most players get better value one tier down.
How many games fit on an 8TB PS5 SSD?
Around 90 to 110 large games. In practice it is enough that you will likely never uninstall anything.
